Bring Your Own Book

Join a community of other Miami University students ready to chat about what they’ve been reading. This month’s topic: books by Black authors!

This University Libraries, Black Books Matter and Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion-sponsored virtual event invites participants to share and discuss books by Black authors, with a focus on fiction, through asynchronous conversations culminating in a live online discussion.

Participants are encouraged to “bring your own book” (or books!) or select from one of the recommended titles below provided free of charge. The first 20 registered participants who indicate an interest in a free book will receive a copy of one of five current, curated titles:

  • Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds
  • Pride by Ibi Zoboi
  • The Voice in My Head by Dana L. David
  • The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow
  • A Song Below Water: A Novel by Bethany C. Morrow

Asynchronous discussion will occur through GroupMe in April 2021. A live Zoom discussion will take place on Thursday, April 29 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.
